Barricaded Mixed Reality Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Barricaded Mixed Reality ("Barricaded"), a mixed reality game for Meta Quest, uses, why it uses it, and the choices you have. Barricaded is made by Levi Herr, doing business as Night Shift Games, in Wisconsin, USA ("we", "us"). If you have any questions, email contact@nightshift-games.com.
In short: the game doesn't send your information to any servers of ours, we don't sell it, and we don't use it for advertising. The only information that leaves your headset for the internet is your score data, which goes to Meta's leaderboard service.
Information we get from Meta
When you play with your Meta account, the game uses Meta's platform to get:
- Your user ID: an ID Meta gives you for this game only. We use it to find your entries on the game's leaderboards and to show your player profile.
- Your username and display name: shown next to your scores on the leaderboards and on your in-game player profile.
Meta also makes your profile photo available to games. Barricaded does not use it. We don't use your friends list or any other Meta account information.
Game information
To run the leaderboards and player profiles, the game records, for each mode you play (Room and Outdoor):
- your best score, the wave you reached, and whether that match was played alone or with others;
- your total points, games played, kills, most kills in one match, and time played;
- how many kills you got with each weapon (used to show your favourite gun).
This information is saved in a file on your headset. When you play signed in to Meta, it is also sent to Meta's leaderboard service together with your user ID. Your display name, scores and these stats are shown to other players of Barricaded on the in-game leaderboards and player profiles.
Your room and your headset
- Room scan. Barricaded is a mixed reality game. It uses the room layout from your headset's own Space Setup (walls and floor) to fit the game to your room. This stays on your headset and is never sent to us. We don't access camera images.
- Play together on the same Wi-Fi. If you play co-op with other headsets in the same room, the headsets talk directly to each other over your local network. They share what is needed to play together: each headset's name, model and an identifier for it, your in-game name, the outline of the shared room, and live game information such as player positions and scores. This doesn't go over the internet and isn't sent to us.
- Head and hand tracking are used only to play the game, on your headset. We don't record or keep them.
- The game doesn't use your microphone, camera images, location or contacts.
Playing at an arcade
Some VR arcades run Barricaded with their own arcade system and player accounts. If you sign up or sign in at an arcade, the arcade operator collects and looks after that account information, and the arcade's own privacy notice applies to it. We don't receive it.
Technical information
The game is built with the Unity engine, with Unity's engine statistics turned off. We don't use advertising, tracking or analytics services.
When you contact us
If you email us or use the support form on our website, we receive what you send: your message, the topic you chose, and, if you give them, your name, your email address and your headset model, plus the approximate country the message was sent from. The form's messages are delivered to our inbox through Cloudflare, which runs our website and email. We use them only to answer you and to fix problems, and keep them for as long as we need to for that.
This website
Our website (nightshift-games.com) is hosted by Cloudflare. It doesn't use cookies, analytics or advertising. Like any website, Cloudflare's servers handle your IP address to deliver the pages, and the site's fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which also receives your IP address when it delivers them.
Sharing
We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't share it with anyone except as described above: Meta, which runs the leaderboards; Cloudflare, which delivers our website and email; and other players, who can see leaderboard names, scores and stats. We would only disclose information if the law required it.
How long information is kept
- Game information on your headset stays there until you uninstall the game or clear its data.
- Leaderboard entries are kept by Meta's leaderboard service for as long as the game's leaderboards exist, or until you ask us to delete them.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your leaderboard entries. Email us from any address, with your Meta username, and we will delete your entries from the game's leaderboards.
- See or correct your information. Your scores and stats are shown in the game. Email us with any question about the information we hold.
- Uninstalling the game removes everything it saved on your headset.
- You can manage your Meta account, username and privacy settings in Meta's own apps and settings.
We'll reply within 30 days.
Children
Barricaded is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the game with an account, email us and we'll delete their leaderboard entries.
Security
Information sent to the leaderboards travels to Meta through Meta's platform software. We don't keep your information on servers of our own.
Changes to this policy
If the game starts using new information (for example online invites, friends or in-game purchases), we will update this policy before that happens and change the date at the top.
